Is there a Code of Ethics that an MCSE-Sec needs to adhere to similar to CISSP's Code of Ethics?

Hypothetically, an individual with an MCSE-Sec places an information system on a network without going through the approved process. The question i have is can i hold the individual accountable for his actions to the degree that a CISSP would be held accountable for a violation of the code of ethics?

Does Microsoft have a process for revoking certifications for violations.

Hello,

No, the MCSE certificate is a lot like a degree from a college in that once you have it you have it for life.  There is no requirement to renew it or to adhere to standards like the CISSP.  There is also no minimum length of professional experience like CISSP.

It is precisely because of this reason that most companies are requiring additional certification that forces the holder to continually renew, and therefore be current.  The Code of Ethics is not an inherent part of the MCSE process and there is no procedure in place to revoke a certification, unless possibly proven that someone cheated on a test.  There is no other agreement to be violated.

Hope this helps.

umm... what i would say is, be a good MCSE, better follow what a CISSP does, including the Code of Ethics. :-)

anyway, it is not a must, as MS does not set the rule...
@bbao, You are correct.  As a professional in any field we must all obey the unwritten Code of Ethics.

@Author: I'm assuming you are speaking of someone who perhaps did work for you and you are now wondering what course of action you might be able to take since, I presume, the work was performed in a less than desirable manner.  I certainly hope you are not wondering what you can get away with!  ;-)

I was definitely not the one culpable in this scenario, I'm looking at it as a way to better inform those who are in positions to implement information systems on a network that requires a stringent approval process, rather than circumvent approving authorities.
