exchange 2010, outlook 2007 cannot download offline address book error: 0x8004010F

Hi all,

i had an address book problem previosuly with outlook 2003 which was solve in this question

https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/25886768/outlook-2003-users-cannot-download-OAB-only-2007-users.html
by using: Get-MailboxDatabase | Set-Mailboxdatabase -offlineAddressBook "\Default Offline Address Book"

but since then, i dont think that older problem has anything do with it, becuase if i recall 2007 worked fine downloading the OAB then all of a sudden now it doesnt get it

anyone have any ideas/ solutions to try, ive tried

adding domain users to IIS OAB folder
adding autodiscover.domain.local to point to exchange in DNS

thanks

ASKER

error 0x8004010F comes from the outlook client

no proxy settings no
if you run test email configuration test from outlook can you paste the resultant xml file ?

are the computers joined to the domain ?
where is the test config, in 2007?

yeah joined to domain
CTRL + Right Click on the outlook icon in your system tray
it doesnt produce any xml

i need to turn it on anywhere?
the last tab contains text copy paste it
no its empty :S
Capture.PNG
log tab ?

yeah lots in there i cant copy it though, ill do lots of screens for you

domain.org resolves to internal web server (local address)
mail.domain.org resolves to exchange server (local address)
autodiscover resloves to exchange server (local address)
ch-ex.domain.local resloves to exchange server (local address)

thanks

Obviously you have a problem with your autodiscover services your SCP is going wrong.

can I ask you to do this one more time but to select only autodiscover? uncheck smart check and secure smart guess.

it would really reduce the clutter for me to read

Thanks
well this is a hell of alot smaller :)

auto.PNG
ok as you can see your SCP entry is timing out with error 500 so is your autodiscover entry

So, in short, the problem seems to be IIS and the autodiscover virtual directory

you said "ch-ex.domain.local resloves to exchange server (local address)"

in IIS of your exchange server can you see a /autodiscover virtual directory ?

you are doing this test from inside your lan right ?
yeah im testing inside the lan, i can see autodiscover dir in IIS yes

looked at the permissions, authenicated users are on there, if that helps

cheers

hello i ahve the same problem with outllok 2007 hello i try to change the annonymous access disabled  nothing change
had the same problem with my 2010 server and 2007 clients.  Removing anonymous access in IIS on autodiscover and OAB fixed the problem.
