Exporting/Importing Catalog Only

I've asked a similar question before but that was how to export/import the entire database and catalog.
Long story short, our current Backup Server (hardware) has been on the fritz. I have a new replacement server coming in later this week. I'm going to, of course, install a fresh copy of Backup Exec 12 and I am going to recreate all the jobs and selection lists from scratch (we have weird issues with our current setup and I want to make sure those issues don't fall over to the new server).

However, I don't want to have to recatalog all our tapes. What is the process of moving the catalog folder from the old server and importing it to the new server so that I have all my available restore dates?

Normally if you'd stay at the same version, you can just inventory ALL of your tapes to intoduce them back into the database and then you copy the catalogs folder from the old install onto the catalogs folder of the new install (with the BE services stopped)

When you install a new version of BE however, I don't think you cannot just copy the old catalogs folder from the old version to the new - especially if you were to be starting from BE10 or earlier.
In that case you may have to install the old version first, do the above procedure to bring the catalog back into the old version and then upgrade the old version to BE12.

ASKER

I'm going from BE 12 to BE 12. I found procedures on how to transfer everything including the jobs but I just want the catalogs due to some job errors we've been having. I want to make sure that doesn't spill over to the new server. I just don't want to have to recatalog all of our freakin' tapes.
