This cyber security path will help participants understand the anatomy of cyber attacks as they gain the skills needed to serve their organizations before, during, and after a breach. A CyberSec First Responder is the first line of defense against cyber attacks. Participants will prepare to analyze threats, design secure computing and network environments, proactively defend networks, and respond to and investigate cybersecurity incidents.

The course will begin by identifying the importance of risk management, assessing risk, mitigating risk, and integrating documentation into risk management. It will then cover analyzing the threat landscape by classifying threats and threat profiles, and showing you how to perform ongoing threat research.

We will then discuss a number of analysis points, such as reconnaissance threats to computing and network environments, attacks on computing and network environments, and post-attack techniques. The course will then demonstrate how to evaluate the organization’s security posture, collect cybersecurity intelligence, analyze log data, perform active asset and network analysis, respond to cybersecurity incidents, and investigate cybersecurity incidents.

In regards to a career path, this course is designed for information assurance professionals who perform job functions related to the development, operation, management, and enforcement of security capabilities for systems and networks.
