For those who have not seen, Microsoft has released what they are calling a "community edition" of Visual Studio 2013
. Like the express editions, the Community Edition is free to use; however, there are certain restrictions one must follow. In a nutshell, individuals, open-source projects, academia, and small companies can use the tool without charge; enterprise still needs a standard license for one of the paid editions.
The most obvious (and most pleasant) change over the Express editions is that you can now use extensions. So now you can have your Resharper and Power Tools running at home!
I've just downloaded it myself, so I don't know all the quirks of it yet, but at first glance it appears comparable to the editions I've used in the past.
