More bioHave been in the UK IT industry since the early 1990's. Have programmed in VB (briefly - v3!), Delphi (including open source groups), C & C++ (professionally under Linux programming VoIP applications), (Visual) FoxPro (current), PHP (current). Have been employed in support capacities in various places during this time and have set up an ISP using clustered Linux boxes with complete redundancy. Am currently employed in my most diverse of jobs: everything from laying cables, setting up machines (servers, workstations, tills, etc) to breaking down machines, user support, application support, accounts, hardware support, diagnostic & replacements. Mainly MS-based products but basically the full cycle.
Joined EE in November 2004 'cause a colleague was harping on about it... didn't see the point, expecting to get yet another pile of spam from another useless web site, but thought I'd indulge him. Only started to use the site in January 2005 - turns out I was completely wrong about EE! :)
EE history:
Jan '05: made Expert status ending the month with ~ 30K points, IIRC.
28th Feb 2006: made the newsletter - 7th in the most points with no certs... 234,892 points.
7th Jan 2009: made the newsletter - 2nd in the most points with no certs... 431,147 points. 2PiFL topped the list with 437,939.
... May be if I hang on another couple of years I'll top it (I'm only half way to a cert in a couple of categories). ;)
Jan 2010: surpassed 500k points. Still no certs.
Feb 2011: surpassed 600k points. Still no certs.
Dec 2012: slowing down somewhat, surpassed 700k points. Still no certs.
Dec 2013: have I slowed! Just surpassed 730k but got my first certificate: Linux Master. :D PHP Master is only 495 points away.
