As a Senior Systems Engineer at Plymouth Hospitals the task and responsibilities include but not exhausted into 3 main area’s -

Core Infrastructure maintenance

Maintaining the Physical and Virtual, Test and Live environments
Monitor and maintain the enterprise-class
•      VCE VBlock 340 series, including Matrix upgrades
•      EMC VPLEX and VNX Storage Arrays – this includes recording and planning for the capacity
         management for the Hospitals needs for existing and future requirements
•      VMware ESXi, VSphere VCentre  V6.0
•      Cisco Nexus and configure the MDS Switches (Brocade and Cisco) for the configuring and
         zoning
•      Work with various different Operating Systems like Windows Server 2003/8 and 2012.  The
         different flavours of Linux include Debian, Ubuntu and Unix
•      HP Server, with HPSIM
•      AD Skills including GPOs and Powershell scripting
•      Backup solution, CommVault Simpana
•      Windows Server 2008 SQL Clustered environment
•      Sophos antivirus
•      WSUS
•      Support and maintain over 50 different Clinical software

Project Work

Planning, documenting and working on a number of Technical Projects at any one time, using the methodology ITIL and Prince.

Examples of the largest project involvement includes
•      The upgrade of our 2 Data Centres
•      The VCE Matrix Upgrade
•      Upgrading Innovian the Critical Care Department's application

This involves a good deal of teamwork and building excellent working relationships with our suppliers
