Full Biography

I'm an aspie (Aspergers Syndrome) from belgium.

My area of interest is just about everything electronic, computer and communication.

I started out as a Desktop Tech for Wang Global, grew trough in that company up to Server Tech at places like the Nato HQ en just about every other large company that had Dell servers inhouse.

After that I started at Dolmen Belgium as a level 2 helpdesker, in that function got outsourced to Ernst & Young, the Flemish Government and Proctor and Gamble, after which I made 3de level helpdesk and network/server administration for other firms like the ones mentioned previously.

I got kinda bored with just maintaining serverfarms (hey, I'm an aspie, if I can't learn something new, I get bored to a level where its unbearable to continue a job).

So I moved on to Living Tomorrow, where I was hired for the startup of the House of the Future project V2. A house filled with all the latest alpha and beta software and hardware and filled to the brim with Home Automation equipment and gadgets.

After that I worked for Staples (yes, THE Staples) as a network and server admin for 2 of their locations. The job had a requirement for me to go to other european Staples locations for upgrades and installations, so it was rather nice for a while.

After Staples I got rather angry with any and all large corps and pritty much refused to work for them.

During the next 4 years I spent time as an IT teacher, webdesigner, server administrator for a webhost with around 20 web and mailservers and about 40 game hosting servers. I also had the pleasure to help create the rise of 3 gigantic community sites that have since been absorbed into newer concepts.

Currently I'm working for an Electrics and Electronics wholesales that has a specialized department for home automation.
I'm "the" IT department for the firm and its daughter locations and develop connectors and integration methods for all sorts of devices and toys into the EIB/KNX environment.
One of my latest conquests in that field was the complete integration of the Revox audio system into an EIB environment.

As for the aspergers thing, in hindsight I know why I hopped jobs as much as I did and know why I got bored at jobs other people would dream of keeping.

I only found out I have Aspergers in May 2008, at age 30.

If I had known sooner, my professional life would've been completely different and I would more then likely have taken a more accademic direction.

That IS my true goal in life, to spend some more time working and at the same time preparing and learning so I can take up and complete a career as a student again and grow trough to become an accademic researcher with as much knowledge in as much scientific fields as I can possibly muster.

With my Aspergers Diagnosis came an official IQ report which shows that, in the right environment where my special needs are taken into account, the sky is the limit and I'm more then well equiped to be counted among the 1%, 0.5 even.

Sorry for any spelling mistakes. Don't think its because English isn't my native tongue, its because I can't be assed to check :p I make even more spelling errors in Dutch!
