Network Administrator at The Enthusiast Network
More bioIt can all be traced back to that Radio Shack 101 electronic experiments kit. The moment I was up to experiment #59, I was hooked. I knew that I wanted to work in electronics for life. In high school, all my efforts were geared toward getting into a good electronic engineering school. I was able to get into a good school, Northrop University. Northrop proved to be costly, so I enlisted in the Army Reserve as a Terminal Telecommunication Repairman (still electronic based). Northrop was eventually was shutdown by the government due to illegal activities. I eventually graduated with an Associates of Science from El Camino College in Electronics Engineering Technology. From there life took over and school became secondary.
In my career, advancement has happen because someone took notice of me and fed my hunger to learn. My manager Guidance took me aside and gave me my first introduction to networking. He explained the function of the LAN and all of its components. From this point I was hooked. He eventually started giving me task related to it. My greatest achievement was creating a QuickTime Server used to stream a company meeting to our counterparts on the east coast. The network engineer at The California Endowment asked me a question that a network administrator could not answer during an interview. I was able to answer the question, but not articulate it in proper terms. He mentored me until I was certified as a CCNA in November 2007.
In January of 2011, I made the ultimate leap to finish work on my Bachelors of Science. My major is Information Technology – Network Management. On July 29, 2013, my work will be completed as I graduated Summa Cum Ladre with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology:Network Management. This was six months earlier than scheduled. No one can predict where the future will take them, but I plan on to keep on climbing and striving to advance as far as I can in the field of networking.
