================================================

Can you hire me?
short answer: no, as I do already have a full-time job.

================================================

For you, the questioners:

#Introduction --
it's not that I don't want to be polite, but you share my time with many others, among my boss !!!
I often post suggestions or links without any explanation or greetings:
-> try to check it out, learning by doing is what made me know what I know today
-> if it does not work, tell me.
-> if it works, but you don't understand the solution, tell me (I will be happy to explain)

rule  #1  -- Do you know how to behave on EE?
* did you read the members agreement: https://www.experts-exchange.com/memberAgreement.jsp ?
* did you read the ALL the help sections: https://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp ?

----> If not, you risk to be wrong.

rule #2  -- Is your question posted correctly?
* did you put your question in the correct topic area: https://www.experts-exchange.com/allTopics.jsp ?
   note: there are several subtopic areas, you might also post pointer questions in several topic areas
* did you put a good question title?
  note: only putting "URGENT HELP NEEDED" is NOT (and will never be) a good question title
  note: adding "URGENT" or similar will not help to get answers faster, only slower
* did you put problem details?
  note: typically information like the following should be in your question, where applicable
    - application names and versions and service packs
    - extract of codes where applicable
    - error messages (if any) !!!!!
    - sample input , current ouput and requested ouput (data and/or behaviour)
    - indication of your knowledge
    - indication of what you tried already
  note: do NOT post pages of code or details. only the essential parts.

----> If not, you are at fault.

rule #3 -- Question follow up ?
* Once you received a comment, you should react to it. If you need some time to test (>30 min), post a comment you do so, and come back when done.
* The suggestion does not work "copy/pasted" into your situation... Did you put some effort to understand the suggestion, I usually assume you can and should do like that.
* The suggestion does not work "copy/pasted" into your situation... Did you check that your posted details might not have been complete enough to write the full solution.
* Very often, the suggestions assume you have some basic knowledge, so you should be able to implement it
* A "No, this does not work" CAN be a correct answer.
* If you got several people giving you the "answer" withing few minutes, split the points.

----> If not, you are at fault.

rule #4 -- we, the "experts"
* not every one posting to your q is an expert in the topic regarding your q (this includes myself). Still, the comment might be valid.
* not every comment is correct. Error happens, most often because the question was not read properly or was not precise enough.
* try not to flame us, we try not to flame you.
* we are not employees of EE, we get NO money nor anything else (except some that get some t-shirts). We help, because we:
   - know about the situation you are in (technical problem)
   - know about the situation you are in (boss behind you asking for solutions)
   - like to share our knowledge
* we are not "working" 24/24 - 7/7. It could be that the expert helping you has gone off for lunch, to bed, to a meeting, dancing or whatever. we have a private life
* we do not know everything. Some might think we do (should), but that's impossible.
* we sometimes "know" that what you ask for is not possible. This is an acceptable answer, but you might review your constraints so we can suggest workarounds or other solutions.

Now, if you think I did a really "bad job" on your question, post a question here:
https://www.experts-exchange.com/Community_Support/Feedback/

TYPCIAL POSTING:
  * first comment is usually a fire-and-forget:
   - Typically, it's a suggestion that should point you to the good direction. If you need more details, post a comment and ask
   - Usually, I try to solve 1 problem at a time, and not all at once.
   - If you ask "how do I this/that", often my comment will only be a link to a page that shows how to do it. I admit that 99% of the cases I googled to find/get that page.
   - If I requested more input, post a comment with ALL of the details asked for
   - in areas where I am NOT an expert (yet), I try to find a link that might/should help.
   - suggestions might not be the only valid one, and can even be wrong
  * following comments:
   - I try to follow up your question until resolution.
   - I might miss your comments, email notification is not always 100%
   - I might miss your comments, I get about 200-300 emails per day from EE... (my mailbox has a limit of 500)
   * I might stop responding for some time
   - when I go to bed, to lunch ... (notice, I DO have a life, a job, a wife, a child, tons of hobbies ...)
   - when another expert shows up a much better way or using techniques I don't know
   - when another expert shows up I know has enough knowledge to finalize the question (I will continue looking, though)
   - when I missed a comment notification (happens more often that one might think)
   - when I am off for some days (which can happen for many reasons)
   - when I have to work on a project without the time to visit EE (see above, I have a full-time job).

================================================

In case you need to send me files about a problem, email to:
r.ford (at) mnsinc <dot> biz

================================================

I will NOT answer any questions send by email to me unless pointed to a question asked on EE directly.
Sending me an email with a link to the question is a guarantee that I will look at the question, but not that I will post.
