More bioAfter almost 30 years in the software business, most recently as a software engineer for Symantec Corp., I have spent the last couple of years as a freelance consultant. My background is commercial systems software development for large corporations (ACF2 and Omegamon products, mostly) and SOHO consulting.
I have written software for mainframe, mini, and micro systems (aka PC's), standalone and client/server (both front-end and back-end). I use mostly C++, C, and IBM/370 assembler languages, although I know several others (does anybody remember COBOL?), including numerous batch languages (REXX is my favorite - yes, I also worked with OS/2). I also do website design with raw HTML and Javascript.
I play around with various OSes (Windows being my most familiar) and applications on my several machines at home, which has led to some networking expertise with my fast ethernet LAN. I am trying to improve my Unix experience with Linux and Solaris.
