I have a M.S in geology, so what do I do here??? Well with a complete lack of jobs within the geology branch when i graduated I quite quickly decided to switch my trade with my hobby and took a 6 month course in system administration of Windows based networks (with a little unix thrown in as spice).
After that I have worked for a short while as consultant in a small company mainly with application support. That wasn't all that fun and I changed to Maconomy (a Software company) where worked for 5 years and 6 month as a technical consultant making the OS the database and the our software work together. A nice mix of system administration, DBA and customer contact. After that I worked a couple of years as dba/sysadmin in the medico business before i was hired by a major european transport company as senior database specialist (damn im growing old...) working mainly with Oracle and our Red Prairie warehouse management system.
Im just starting to look at SAP Netveawer administration (SAP BASIS), so watch out controllers and lock up your ERP systems the boogie man is out tonight.... ;-)
I started my own company Isidor Data in may '12, living the happy life as an Independent IT Contractor (never ever wondering where and when the next contract will be landed....)
