It was a great year and as 2015 comes to an end, I placed 2nd overall.

At the beginning of 2015 the only goal I had was to reach 5,000,000 points overall. I had not been active on EE in 2014 so January 1st 2015 was a clean slate and I had no questions that would help my start for 2015.

During 2015 I reached 5,000,000 points only by answering questions (no tutorials or videos) alone. That being said I never thought that I would place 2nd overall and at the midway point compete with Andrew Hancock for 1st place. After being extremely active up until September 2015 I realized that it is hard to compete for 1st solely on questions alone.

The reason I say that is because when you create tutorials videos etc you are Guaranteed 3,000 points off the bat and then sub sequential points thereafter for people viewing and rating your tutorials. Questions alone lies in the hands of the asker, and there are times where a question would not get accepted for weeks or months which can set you back points. Another thing is based on how the asker rates your answers and splits the points you are not Guaranteed 2,000 which is the max for Non Neglected questions.

So at that point I realized that I would be able to meet my original goal of 5,000,000 points overall and I could not compete with Andrew for 1st any longer. I was approx. 500,000 points ahead of 3rd place, at that time. This meant I was just going to maintain 100,000 points to reach my 5,000,000 goal and also to maintain 2nd place overall for the year.

As you might know the Experts on this site volunteer our own time to come on this site and share our knowledge with the rest of the community.
