More bioI am Blake Long. I have been in IT since 2010. I started off as a bench intern at a small computer shop in my hometown when I was in high school. After high school I went to Missouri state University and Ozarks Technical Community College and was unsuccessful in seeking degrees due to lack of motivation. I started working at my Dad's insurance agency answering the phone and taking care of their computer problems. From there I went to a small shop that bought and sold junk. The guy that ran the shop did some computer/game system/ electronic repair and I helped him with this. Next I moved to a network cabling company that did retro cabling in everything from schools to doctor's offices and did cabling jobs for new construction. They also had a guy that did small IT jobs and I assisted him when he needed help. This is where I was first exposed to large networks and active directory as well as Mac networks. My father In-Law retired from the Army after 23 years as a system admin and went to work for a large MSP in the area. He assisted me with getting a job with them as a bench intern, While there I rose to a helpdesk position and started taking internal classes that they gave. I got both my MCTS for Windows 7 and Office 2010 and my Network+ while there as well as taking more advanced Microsoft and Cisco classes. While with that company I learned a lot from several guys that had been in the business for several years. I expanded my knowledge of networking and active directory and sharpened my PC troubleshooting skills. From there I moved on to a smaller MSP that hadn't been around for very long, around 2 years when I started, and I am still there. Since being here I have done several new server installs and created a few domains from scratch. I have done server migrations and network overhauls. I have furthered my experience with both ESXi and Hyper-V. I have done turn-ups of MPLS networks that have locations across the country and had to troubleshoot many issues with said networks. I have learned a lot and have a lot to learn and look forward to sharing my experiences.
