More bioI am an independent guy with no formal training or certifications. I was an IBM 370 main frame operator for 3 years in a corporate environment and left there to manage a small direct mail entertainment company in 1978 with 3 full time employees doing $300K in sales. The customer base was about 20K customers maintained on 3x5 index cards. When the first IBM PC came out, I converted the customer file to a computerized file and eventually installed a Novell Network as the business grew into 45 full time employees, 250K customers and 4M in sales. I managed that business for 21 years before it was sold to an Internet company. During that time I learned as much as I could about computers and started a side business in 1990 helping home users and small businesses with computers. I managed a local video/DVD rental store for 11 years before the Internet took over that technology. I am semi-retired after recovering from lymphoma in 2013-14 and still consult for a few local small businesses and do remote support for many home users. I am very familiar with lots of hardware and software, but do not have any formal training. I have been using this site since 2003.
