I am a C programmer and a database designer. I have Linux systems I use as servers as well as a Linux laptop and, as I do my own SA work, I have learned enough that I just might know the answer to your question.

I have done installs, upgrades, compiled kernels and and generally kept my systems in good shape using RedHat and Mandrake. I started using KDE back when you had to install it yourself, so I had to learn about that. I have also installed and use Star Office/OpenOffice so I know a bit about that too.

I am generally familiar with Windows as well but have no great in depth knowledge of it. Just enough to configure it the way I want, keep it up to date and tweak the occasional registry setting.

I have configured web servers and written web applications.

I have 10+ years working on UNIX / Linux systems.
