Full Biography

I am a senior level enterprise information strategy consultant. I have worked in the IT industry for 15+ years in the areas of  middleware development, application integration support and large-scale data migration on multiple platforms.

I opened my technology consulting firm, Metropolitan Design and Development, Inc. in 1997. My initial focus was to provide staff augmentation services for Inc 100 and Fortune 500 companies in Chicago, Albuquerque and Atlanta. Over time that model has changed to offer data integration, data quality implementation plans, data mining, and business intelligence solutions to other engineering firms, public utilities and regulatory agencies. While the economy stubbornly drags its feet, I've finally been able to seriously research the disruptive noSQL alternatives to the more traditional relational OLTP and snow flake data mart/data warehouse approaches to data management. Mongo and Cassandra  look promising!

During the course of this work, I've generated and retired several VMs. Many of which came from JumpBox (http://www.jumpbox.com). I'd recommend this band of gurus to anyone interested in evaluating anything from unglamorous LAMP and open source ERP installations to cutting edge mobile application frameworks.

I have been an active member of IEEE (ieee.org) and CPSR (cpsr.org) for 10 years.

In addition to my technical skills, I hold a CABM designation from the Association of Professionals in Business Management (apbm.org).

I've had to make use of my "soft skills" more than ever as the RFP/RFQ process has become more and more of a requirement for acquiring new clients. During this process, I created a social network site for purchasers and small business owners to share their knowledge, thoughts and (sometimes) gripes!
