I'm one of those folks who finds himself in the position of solving other people's problems -- the law of Unintended Consequences has always been good to me. I don't know if that makes me qualified as an expert... but I can make things work.
I went through four distinct changes in technology over the course of a career in newspapers -- five if you want to include the web. Now, I do site development, a little consulting, and work with a few local government agencies on policy development -- mostly planning stuff. I've also been known to work on Access databases for people if they ask politely.
I also spent about 14 years wandering around EE as Netminder.
I also edited Experts Exchange's newsletter for about ten years; if you care to complain about something, you're welcome to write to me (ericp AT cityofangels DOT com). And no, I don't live in Los Angeles, which isn't really the REAL City of Angels anyway.
