More bio45 years in the industry, major area as a systems architect. Have been around long enough to see many things reinvented several times in the interests of marketing. We have a lot to learn and we haven't learnt good lessons from as far back as steam, railroad, telegraph, automotive, hi fi etc. All were paradigm shifts in their time, characterised by high labour costs and dependence on expertise. Like those industries, technical expertise will be the domain of a small few, for the rest of us it will be how we help our customer have a pleasing experience.
After all, we are the reluctant masters of the "servants" (computing) charged with making those servants deliver the best possible outcome to their (and our) masters - people.
