Started my life writing games on Atari and Commodore home PC's. Around this time, school introduced 'Computer Studies' as an exam option - I was turned down for this as I knew more than the teacher!
Left school and drifted from dead end job to dead end job. Finally landed a job as a programmer and was given the reference manual for Sculptor 4GL to learn over a weekend. The rest is history as they say.
I've used more flavours of OS than I care to remember...but the one that sticks in my mind was Microsoft Xenix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenix) as that's where I started.
From developer to business analyst to DBA (Informix On-Line) to Project Manager to IT Manager to IT Director to independant IT consultant.
Some people see me as a Guru...I wouldn't go that far personnally. I don't claim to be an expert in anything, but I know a lot about a lot of things. Virtualisation is my thing at the moment (I'm a VCP).
