IT Manager

Reporting to the Sr. IT Director, I am part of the global IT management team at Skillsoft. I am directly responsible for managing the IT infrastructure of three Skillsoft offices, in the U.S. and Canada. My direct reports include both IT Engineers and PC Support Specialists. My duties include budget planning, resource planning and management, interfacing with business unit managers to anticipate business needs and ensuring service-level agreements are met. This includes supporting a 24x7x365 customer contact center.

As a member of the global IT management team, I work closely with other IT Managers to develop policies and procedures as well as determine the overall global Skillsoft IT strategy, which is developed to align with the goals of the business. This includes forecasting future needs and growth and choosing the best products and technologies to satisfy those needs as well as ensuring the IT department is staffed at the proper level and that the proper skills are available.

As a subject matter expert, I am responsible for leading and mentoring teams of IT Engineers in the areas of my expertise. This includes email systems and Active Directory.

In the role of IT Supervisor, I was responsible for the day to day IT operations in the Fredericton Skillsoft office. My direct reports included IT Engineers and PC Support Specialists. I was responsible for ensuring run and maintain operations, such as backups and server maintenance, were carried out. I was also responsible for managing IT projects in the both local and global scope.

As a subject matter expert in Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory, I was also responsible for leading global engineering teams to design and maintain those environments.

In the role of Systems Engineer, I was responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining a variety of IT systems. My primary focus and expertise was on Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Active Directory but I worked with a variety of other technologies. I was responsible for designing and deploying the original Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory global infrastructures at Skillsoft. I also performed a number of desktop engineering duties, including designing and deploying a low administrative desktop deployment model. This included a locked down desktop model, which was managed with tools such as Ghost and Microsoft SMS.

I am an IT professional with over 15 years of progressive experience, the majority of which has been with the same company. In my current role, I serve as an IT Manager for a company with global presence. I'vve successfully lead and managed large scale projects from conception to completion. I've been instrumental in the integration of IT infrastructures during 5 different mergers and acquisitions.

I have a Bachelor's in Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration. My educational background allows me to understand the inner workings of business. I can then apply that business knowledge in combination with my knowledge of information technology to come up with technology solutions that best meet the needs of the business.
