More bioI have been the "programming" business for over 40 years. I began working for IBM on the "unit record" equipment where I had to program the machines by plugging jumper wires on the main control board. I've seen the evolution of storing data on punched tape, punched cards, tape, fixed hard drives, removable hard drives to todays plethora of media. I remember being thrilled that I could communicate from one machine to another at 300 bps. Color monitors would compare to having a 56 inch digital wide-screen monitor today. The advent of the bulletin boards would allow us to communicate with the vendors that had the vision of setting one up. The internet was an explosion of possibilities. HTML, still the fundamental language today, was great for what it was meant to do. But, we have created a foundation built on some very weak principles. If you want to get into the Information Technology game, begin with this simple premise; A computer is still based on the analogy of turning a light switch on or off.
