First off, you may be wondering about my name on here. This nickname was given to me by a colleague of mine a few years ago. I enjoy cooking and baking and used to bring in fresh cookies once a month or so. Obviously they liked the cookies so much I became the Master Baker. Yes, I know what it sounds like. That's all part of the fun. :)
So as for my background, I have been in IT since October 1994. I started out as a part time IT technician and worked my way up to a Senior Network Systems administrator. I have been using computers since 1979 and have always had them in my life. Before I got into the "official" IT world, I ran a garage computer sales/support operation while in high school. $3000 for an average computer? Sounds about right! You can get them for how little now? Woah.
As far as certifications go... I got the Netware one after taking all of the classes so I could take on support of my company's Netware environment. I got the Microsoft and Cisco certs after years of experience using the products... the certs were basically earned so I could put them on my resume to have something to show for my knowledge. So here's what I have so far:
- Novell CNA and CNE: Netware 4 and 5
- Microsoft MCP: Windows NT 4.0 Server Administration
- Microsoft MCSE: Windows 2000 Server
- Cisco CCNA
