The department I worked for was in charge of all of the medical transactions for Blue Cross of Souther n California. We developed a way to streamline the medical billing process used by hospitals and care providers that saw Blue Cross subscribers. This greatly reduced the time needed for data entry and validation. Additionally, it provided a standard way for the hospital staff to  manage their Blue Cross transactions.
