I live in Canberra Australia. Work as a Project Manager for IT and Comms Projects. I particularly like the IT security Domain in both business and home interests. I came here (EE) originally for advice and still do as it is a very effective way to get solutions ,I do however take an interest in questions not related to mine as I do get satisfaction from trying to help people especially in the jargon overloaded, technology rich and complex domain of IT.

Although now a PM my background is technical and once an engineer always an engineer I think. Originally I purchased a PC just as I would a TV or other appliance. It wasn't until I got caught by a massive "Gotcha" in the repair shop that I took an interest in the PC technology. I was told by the repair man..." Your Motherboard is stuffed and needs to be replaced by a new one (different type) which the CPU is not compatible with...nor the memory". Needless to say I took my stuff away, researched numerous manuals and e-bay came to my rescue. Taught me a lesson anyway.
