I joined EE a while back, but did not get involved in answering questions (or at least attempting) on a routine basis until February '09.  While I am not an expert in one particular area, I consider myself to possess a decent amount of breadth and depth.  If I were an expert, I probably wouldn't claim to be one.

There's a ton of talented people on this site, so take advantage and  learn new material and refeshing skills sets, by simply getting involved.  

I highly recommend folks try to answer a few questions, read solutions for the heck of it, and not just join EE to get your own problems solved.  Even if you do not provide the accepted or assisted solution, you actually benefit from being involved.
