I am an IT professionals that loves this area of business. There is always a new challenge that you are addressed with.
More bioI first got interested in IT back in 1997 at my first job out of college. It was for an environmental company doing what I got a degree in (Geology). They had a small computer network (1 server, couple a unmanaged switches, few printers, phone system, NAS and DSL connection). I started to assist the network admin with basic tasks and quickly enjoyed this better than being out in the middle of winter in sub-freezing temperatures. From there I took a basic Windows NT 4.0 class to get a bit more versed in the server side of things. This was right at the time Windows 2000 was released. I then started doing a small side job for a friend that wanted to build up a network for his construction company. This is where I really started to learn and teach myself since it was only me and I had to figure it out. From there I worked as a helpdesk support for a mid-size mortgage company in the mid-2000's and on my down time got familiar with other technologies that I was not exposed to at my previous jobs. I then eventually got a position as a senior network analysis for my current company and eventually at the position I am at today.
