A technology that has been really helpful as a Java developer is the ability to hot swap code using a technology like jRebel. Not having to restart the application server every time I make a change has really sped up development.
Wikipedia - Is it just me, or do other people also find Wikipedia explanations incredibly frustrating at times?
Curious after watching an episode of JAG on TV because I saw "00:25 Zulu Time" pop up while the sun was shining brightly in the episode I watched, I decided to look up what Zulu time actually meant on Wikipedia.
Confronted with large walls of text and a few thousand hyperlinks on the resulting page got me no closer to understanding what it was telling me. Talk about information overload! OMG who writes all of this stuff?!
I eventually got my answer from this page. Simple, concise, and I didn't even have to put a couple of days aside to read and understand what the page was trying to tell me.
I admit Wikipedia can often be a highly useful resource, but I'd like to find a similar service that just answers the question being asked, without shoving a 2-year history lesson into my face, along with every single conceivable related piece of information in the form of a thousand hyperlinks.
