To badly paraphrase a classic Yogi Berra quote, "Nobody uses Facebook anymore. It's too crowded."

On a more serious note, seems like much of Facebook's strategy has been to make strategic purchases. They do own Instagram, after all! And I'm really hoping that their massive investment in buying Oculus pays off, because I'd love to see VR go mainstream and hit its full potential.

My daughter is 16 years old and says " There are only old people on Facebook".  Is it possible to have a place where people with different age range will hang together?

There are only old people on Facebook".
Heh.  I honestly feel this happened because the younger generation was so disconnected from their elders.  And there is no social network for our parents otherwise?  Most people know Facebook started as an exclusive college invitation only social platform.  But when it became more popular than My Space, and profitable, and just simply more easy to use, it makes sense how its ballooned into the social platform for the world.

THE ENTIRE WORLD.

SnapChat and Instagram are only different because they are not as intuitive to use.  Plus, who needs so many ways to connect socially?  Its sort of ridiculous.  I have a FB and an Instagram account.  I have a Linked In account.  I have a Twitter account.  I tried SnapChat, but then didn't see the point of needing it alongside the other handful of apps.  I'm pretty disgusted with myself for how many avenues of socializing online that I feel I should have.  So what does this mean?  I have to stay up to date with more than 5 social networking areas?  I want to punch myself in the face for letting myself get to this point.

I've tried hard to just limit to Instagram.  Its simple, easy to use, and I can share stuff with FB if I want my 'older' family to see things I'm doing with my life. xD

But I get it.  I can see how those other apps are a bit more exclusive to the younger generation.  They offer privacy and anonymity that FB simply doesn't care about anymore.  We all want a bit of anonymity and privacy in our social networking and other apps that are not FB can provide this.

It sounds funny, and I think Kyle can also attest to it, but Pokemon Go achieves this. I've done raids that have included elementary aged kids and retirees. I've seen a lot of stories about children playing with their parents and grandparents and rejuvenating their relationships. The key to achieving this balance could be giving the users something on which to focus besides their own social lives. A 16 year old's social interests most likely won't align with a 30 year old's interests, but creating a common goal that interests people of any age can bring their worlds together.

Well said.  That is one good example for sure.
