Charter has upgraded their Internet speed from 60MB/s to 100MB/s recently for residential customers. I subscribe to the Internet-only service from them.

I contacted them recently via their chatline and they switched me from 60 to 100 at no cost. It literally took about 5 minutes over their live-chat system. Here's the log, just so I can come back to it in case they raise my price later :)

Dennis H: Thank you for contacting Spectrum. This is Dennis H. How may I assist you?
Dennis H: Thank you for providing me the opportunity to help you today.

How can I help?
lucas bishop: Hi Dennis, I currently have an account at Charter:
lucas bishop: Account Number: ################
lucas bishop: I see you are advertising Internet service starting at 100Mbps. Is that something I get by default? Or is it something I have to pay for an upgrade too?
Dennis H: Thank you very much, lucas. Please bear with me just a moment while I pull up some information for you.
lucas bishop: ok
Dennis H: Upon further review of your account, In order to upgrade to Spectrum Internet services, I would need to transition your account over to one of our newer packages so that your account is compatible for voice services. Your speed would increase from 60mbps to 100 mbps. This will change your monthly rate from $64.99 to $64.99. Would you like to take advantage of this offer and upgrade your Internet service today?
lucas bishop: So my price would not change?
Dennis H: Yes, In response to your question: “So my price would not change? ”
lucas bishop: Is the price an introductory offer, where 1 year from now it would change?
Dennis H: No, In response to your question: “Is the price an introductory offer, where 1 year from now it would change?”
lucas bishop: Ok, sounds like a good deal to me. Let's go ahead transition my account and increase the speed. :)
Dennis H: Your patience is much appreciated, lucas. Please allow me just one moment to get everything entered into our system.
Dennis H: Thank you lucas, we are nearly done! Please give me just a moment to finalize the order and give you a recap of our transaction today.
lucas bishop: Yeehaw
Dennis H: Before I let you go, I would like to recap our call today to ensure I have everything correct. We will be adding Spectrum High Speed Internet for $64.99 per month, bringing your new total monthly rate to $64.99, which includes a Broadcast TV Surcharge of $0 and taxes and fees. Your next monthly statement will also include an installation and/or activation fee of $0. Your installation appointment is scheduled for N/A. Do you agree?
lucas bishop: Yes, I agree.
Dennis H: Great, do you have any further questions for me?
lucas bishop: No. You've been very helpful. Thank you for your time.
Dennis H: Congratulations on your Internet Upgrade. Your new speed will be available momentarily. If you experience any issues, you can call us at (855) 757-7328 or start a new chat.
Dennis H: Is there anything else that I can assist you with today, lucas?

Wow thanks for this.  I'm going to contact them!

EDIT: And I'm done.  For me I had to upgrade from $54.99 to $64.99 but worth it.  Thanks again.

If I usually get 30MB out of 60MB, and I upgrade to 100MB, I should get 50MB!!!!! Smooth Hulu-ing from here on out! Skol!

SKOL!

I ran a speed test last night and it went to 75MB/s.  When I was paying for 60MB/s I would typically get 40-50MB/s.

Two tests after upgrading are up top.

You can see my historic tests on my home wifi before that.

I'll test via a hardwired device next. If that doesn't hit 100MB/s then I'll have Charter out to my house.

Ha, here's my formula back when I wasn't getting 60MB/s. Did this at my house and my dad's house. I tell them I'm not getting the speed I'm paying for. They send someone out to troubleshoot. I ride shotgun with the troubleshooter and don't let them leave till I witness a speed test where I get the promised speed.

In both cases I've dealt with, they ended up having to give me a higher end cable modem.

When I upgraded they said they were shipping a modem to switch out. I'll test speeds after.

Pretty sure their VoIP modems should be capable of delivering the higher speeds.

It doesn't look like they have any DOCSIS 3.1 modems in their current lineup:

As long as you have one of their DOCSIS 3.0 modems, you should theoretically be able to get their promised speeds. My issues with them historically have been linked to the Motorola modems. It seems like after about 6 months, they become completely unreliable with constant dropouts.

I was on an older plan with them and I was able to drop my bill from $84 down to $64! I too need to swap out my older modem for a new one.

Charter, you should join the site and take control of the conversation. Also give us free internets. I know you're seeing this.

take control of the conversation
give us free internets.
They, and Ajit Pai, totally do not want to and made sure of it already by getting rid of Net Neutrality.

I got a letter in the mail the other day saying they had upgraded my account to this faster speed for free. I didn't have to do anything to get it :)

That's only if you believe, not doing anything is not doing something.
