Thank you for posting this. I saw this is ZD Net as well yesterday. The article says the update does not apply to all machines as you note above. It does not apply to my Haswell Desktop and seems not to apply to my Skylake Laptop.

Depends which skylake laptop (and CPU) you are talking about. Lenovo will have offered updates for its skylake laptops already, they were quick.
