I have been using MacPPP/MacTcp along with Netscape 3.0 on a Quadra 605
to navigate the net through a local ISP, for over a year with no
Suddenly, I am unable to get past the PPP/Establishment phase to complete the connection into the ISP, which will then open Netscape.  After double clicking on the netscape Icon, Netscape reads all of its  Prefs files and then the MacPPP status: window opens. Next the following
text appears in sequence.
      MacPPP status:

Dialing Modem (Modem dials & connection is opened)

      Waiting For Text:

      Log-In            (No Problem)

      Password            (No Problem)

PPP Phase: Establishment (Programs hangs at this point, modem times out & disconnects before completing the connection)
I have checked all the MacPPP & MacTCP settings with the ISP, rebuilt the desktop, ran disk doctor, and did a clean install of both the MacPPP & MacTCP, without any luck!

Try using the ConfigPPP control panel to establish the connection.  If the automatic connection script doesn't work, try connecting manually.  (Check the "terminal window" box and type the dialing and script commands directly into the window.)  You may then see what is going wrong.  Another technique is to use the automatic method but try inserting \t at various points in the script.  This will pop you into manual just at the point where the \t occurs.
