Software in lieu of PlainTalk mic

I have a 6100/60 that requires the use of the PlainTalk mic. While reading through some info on extension conflicts, I came across an extension named "sound input amplification" that supposedly adds an option to the sound control panel to amplify the mic input so you can use a regular mic.
So, my question is, where can I find this extension? I've tried all of the regular web sources.

I have searched *all* over the place. If there is an extension called "sound input amplification" or something like it, it is comercial. Which means it will probably be bundled with other software and cost almost as much or more than the PlainTalk mic. If you add a comment about where you saw the list of extensions I may be able to help you find it and where to get it cheap.
