CD-rom detection

Hello!
I have problems to get win95 to pick up the cd-player.
A restart in dos mode makes win95 to pick it up.
Can you help me solve this tidious problem?

I had similar problems with an 8X cd-rom, this is what i did.
Because the newer and faster models need
a little time to start they ar not initialed properly when making a cold start.
I turned memory checking on in my bios, so
that he checks the 64 meg 3 times.
It helped.
