Hi 
 
I am looking for a utility that can replace the Win95 SUBST command to map 
any SUBDIR in a SHARE NT drive. 
Win95 SUBST command is NOT working in a network drive and the output is: 
&quot;Cannot SUBST a network drive&quot; 
 
The tree structure on that SHARE is very complex and therefor it is inefficient to define a share to every subdir (more than 100 Shares ) 
 
The requested utility should be similar to the MAP command found in NetWare which is able to define a subdir as the root dir to a virtual drive ( SUBST is doing it fine in a local drive) 
 
Enclose the command and the error message 
 
C:\WIN95&gt;subst x: j:\yagil\wordfile 
when 
j: is an NT SHARE network drive 
and 
x: is the virtual drive 
 
and the output :

Win95 SUBST For Network

The Windows operating systems have distinct methodologies for designing and implementing networks, and have specific systems to accomplish various networking processes, such as Exchange for email, Sharepoint for shared files and programs, and IIS for delivery of web pages. Microsoft also produces server technologies for networked database use, security and virtualization.

Windows Networking

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud). "Restore" in turn means the methods and processes involved in data recovery, i. e., bringing back copied computer data to their original location. Backup/Restore primarily serves as a means of protection against data loss, be it due to disaster, corruption or sabotage. It can also be used for recovering data from an earlier point in time and even for cloning machines or applications. There is a wide variety of backup/restore software available, from expensive commercial products to free or open source tools.
