Could you tell me how to put icons of my
favorite programs on the taskbar tasktray
without(I repeat)without the help of an extra
program? How does windows put the volume
control there?

Windows has an API call to put icons into the tray. If your program does not use these API internaly, you cannot force it to put the icon into the tray.
Applets such as volume control are WRITTEN to use the tray.
There might be external programs to do that but you say you do not want to use them.
