Video upgrade to 2 meg

How do one confirm the system has 2 meg of Vram after adding  the extra meg........is there any test or will I see it as something working faster. Sys P75 24 meg ram Cirrus Logic 5429/30/34 card....thanks John

Hi John,
 there are three options available:
(1) Perform a warm reboot (CTRL-ALT-DEL), not a cold start (your monitor won't be displaying anything in the first seconds). Usually, Cirrus Logic adapters display their hardware config before the screen is taken over by the BIOS POST (post power on self test) - just for a fraction of a second.
(2) Look at the utilities disk that comes with your adapter (or download it somewhere). One of the setup/config programs will most probably display your desired info.
(3) Set a higher color depth (800x600@65K) that you definitely could not use without the extra meg. At lower color depths there should be a slight performance increase (because the card now has some memory for internal caching) but this is hard to measure without appropriate tools. Maybe a game like Descent1/2 where you can display frames per second information will help you.
