PPP Connection Problem

Hello. We are running a BBS system (Windows NT 4.0 Server) with internet access. We’re having a problem getting one user connected. He has a Starmax 4000 sys. 7.5.3 OT 1.1.1 and FreePPP 2.5v2. FreePPP dials up the BBS and he connects through the terminal window. FreePPP claims that the connection is successsful but when he launches Netscape he gets a dialogue box saying: Netscape was unable to make a socket connection with the network. He brought his cpu and modem (USR Sportster 28,800 V.34 Voice) in to us and we changed his init string to AT&FO, and got on the web just fine. He tried it again at home and still gets the same message from Netscape.

1. Get him to alter the baud rate at his home setup to 19200. It seems to me that he may be having line problems from home.

2. Then tell him to try making the connection up to four times at five minute intervals, turning off the modem (and back on again!) after each unsuccessful attempt. If this doesn't work, ask him to take careful note of exactly what happens when he tries to open Netscape or his emailer each time it fails, and please let me know what happens.
