word 97 with ET6000

Do you know of any problems with running WORD 97 on video cards with the ET 6000 chipset? I am a tech in a medium sized OEM, and we stock four brands of cards with the ET6000 on them, and none of them work with Word 97. We have tried under 95 and NT 4, and eight different systems, etc........
can you help please?????

I believe I have found the info you need:
Verbatim, from the Knowledge Base:

Symptoms:
"After you start Microsoft Word 97 on a system using the Tseng Labs ET6000 video chipset, the images displayed on the screen may become distorted. When you quit Word, the problem remains.
This problem occurs on systems using Tseng Labs ET6000 video driver version 4.03.1400. The system may appear hung due to the screen corruption; however, other than the distorted images on the screen, the system continues to operate normally.

Resolution:
Replace the existing Tseng video driver with version 4.03.3600 or later. For information about how to obtain the updated Tseng Labs ET6000 video driver, see the Tseng Labs Web page at: http://www.tseng.com

More Info:
The following is a list of video cards that use the ET6000 video chipset. This is not a complete list.
 California Graphics SunTracer 6000
 Hercules Dynamite 128/Video
 Jazz G-Force 128
 Media Vision PROAxcel 128
 Mirage Z-128
 STB LIGHTSPEED 128
 VideoLogic GraphixStar 600

So, it seems that this is a known bug, and fairly easily resolved.
Good luck to you!
