"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Uninstall the modem completely, (modems sound system and all),
Reinstall, omitting the voice mail software..
or
Check the IRQs for the sound card and modem sound system..
IRQ 5 or 7 is used by the SB16..try moving this to IRQ 10, or 11
or move the modem sounds to another IRQ

What we have here is not hardware, but an IRQ conflict..sorry to say it's going to be trial and error

Staring point would be to go to the dos box, and at the c:> type msd..check the list or DMA and IRQ settings.

The correction may be as easy as reinstalling the SB16 software.
