EZ-SCSI Problem (Drive Light)
Hello.
A few weeks ago I have bought an Adaptec AHA-2940UW Kit
(incl. EZ-SCSI 4.0).
My system:
Motherboard: TYAN Tomcat II DUAL S1562D
Installed: One Pentium 200 V-CPU
BIOS: AWARD V3.02 6/27/96
RAM: 64 MB PS/2 EDO
CACHE: 512 kB
Harddisk ID0 Quantum Atlas XP31070 Ultra -BootHD-
Harddisk ID1 IBM DORS 32160 Ultra
CDROM ID6 Pioneer DR-U12X SCSI
**** I have no IDE- Hardware, the two IDE-ports are deactivated in the BIOS ***
OS: Windows NT 4.0 Workstation Service Pack 2 (German version)
EZ-SCSI: V4.0 or 4.1
WinNT-Driver: Aic78xx.sys V2.00 (kc0023 000170 ks06)
My SCSI-cable (five connectors):
|--- AHA-2940UW (Termination set to automatic)
|
|--- ID0 Quantum Atlas XP31070 Ultra (not terminated)
|
|--- ID1 IBM DORS 32160 Ultra (not terminated)
|
|--- ID6 Pioneer DR-U12X SCSI (not terminated)
|
|--- ACTIVE TERMINATOR
Sorry for this long description of my system.
Now my problem:
The program "Drive Light" doesn't work for my
IBM DORS 32160 Ultra. Your program doesn't recognize
read and write. It always mentiones "8k read, 0k written".
It's all ok for the Quantum and the Pioneer. I have tried
several things, but nothing solves my problem.
P.S.
- I have connected the LED from my tower to the host adapter
- With Windows 95 I don't have this problem
Thanks a lot in advance for helping me to solve my problem and sorry for my perhaps badly english.

Are there any drive-LED-jumpers on the malfunctioning HD?
ASKER
Yes. Jumper 12 is for "Led Out".
But why does it work well under Windows 95 ?
This jumper on my HD is not set, because I have no
problem with W95.

there are still much bugs in ez-scsi 4.0 , had problems too but with cache , upgrading to 4.01 helped.
You can get this upgrade for free at the ez-scsi homepage.

This upgrade to V4.01 didn't solve this problem.
I haven't done the FDISK for the second (IBM) Harddisk, after
booting DOS.
I have done the FDISK under WINNT "Start-Programs-Admin general-HD Manager"
and that was the problem. That depends perhaps on a failure of Service
Pack 2, I don't know it.
Fact: The FDISK has to be done under DOS and then it works.
