Looking for Scan-To-Fax Utility

I am looking for something that will facilitate scanning
a document and sending it as a fax. I have a Microtek ScanMaker II scanner on a PowerMac 6100/60 running MacOS
7.5.5.

The problem with scanning something to send by fax is that you need a fairly high resolution to made it readable, and that usually means quite large files. Nevertheless, probably the simplest way to do it manually is to

*      scan in the document at the lowest acceptable resolution,
crop it as small as you can in an application such as Photoshop or Graphic Converter (enhance it too, if you can, using these programs)
 
*      save it as a tiff image which will open in Pagemaker or Microsoft Word (so you can save it as a document), and then

*      use the faxing software that came with your fax-modem, send it.

However, if you are looking for something that can automate the process, there really is nothing that is available that doesn't demand your input by way of scanning and cropping the document.
