Star LC-10 doesn't print

Background info:
I am currently running NT4.0 WorkStation on a Pentium90,
containing a modem(IRQ7), netcard(IRQ10), soundcard(IRQ11), CD-ROM(IRQ15).

Problem:
I have installed a Star LC-10 printer on the parallel port(using IRQ5)
My problem is that I can't get it to print anything at all.
When trying to print a testpage or a document from notepad, all I get is an error message saying:
Error writing to LPT1: for Document Untitled - Notepad: The device is not ready.
In the printer status window it says that the printer is off-line, but that is not really the case, because the on-line light is on! While trying to print, the printer resets itself in periodic 5 second intervals. I have no trouble getting it to print under DOS or Linux. The parport IRQ does not show in the WinNT diagnostics/resources, allthough it shows under the I/O-port and devices option.
I can't see any conflicts with other devices.

Hope you can solve this one!

Are you sure your system is configured correctly to LPT1?
Go to printers(folder), then right click on your printer, select properties/ ports(tab) and check if the coorect port is enable.  You can try to install a friend's printer to the same port and check if it works. Also check the driver or try a newer one.
Good luck.
