I was wondering how effective microsoft frontpage 97 is for publishing your own web pages. I am quite the novice and have no understanding of what HTML is, aside from what it stands for, or java script, or any other tool that is needed to create an outstanding web page. I saw the add for microsoft frontpage 97 and thought it looked good. I now wanted to get the opinions of the experts. If this program isn't worth the investment, could you suggest the best way for someone to go about learning how to create a good web page? Thanks for you time.

Front Page is great it is what we call WYSIWYG which meens What You See is What You Get. Which meens you don't have to write any code. It is all graphical lets say you wanted to make a link all you would do is choose the text option put the cursor were you wanted it to be type in the name that you want them to click on then highlite it choose the make link option at the top of the window then it will ask you were to link to. And it has various other functions like you drag a graphich straight into front page and it shows up and you can move it around. JavaScript is a language made by SunSoft it allows interactivity in the webpage such as A dialog box or a Test and Various other functions. I do think that Front Page is a good investment. You can download the demo from http://www.microsoft.com if you want to get a real good feal for the program.
