P/W-Protected BBs`s?

Just exactly would be involved in building a website that was running 5 bbs`s with p/w-protected posting, either user-
generated via "registration"(such as THIS one)or auto-gener-
ated via-email(whichever is simpler)In short,is protecting
the posting function with a p/w requirement really such a
big deal,technically?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Well it matters what kind of information it would have. It is usefull in a situation like experts-exchange because it is used to identify people not for protection but for telling who is who and what is what. But in the case of some places you might want to have becuase there paying money and there are different payment plans. So it really matters on what kind of datter that is being played with!
