I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you are interested in the VxD route, here it is:

WinRT is a system that allows you to write/access VxDs from
Delphi.  Go to this site and see if you are interested.
From what I've heard, it is fairly simple to use the system
and would do everything you require.

  Here's the WinRT URL:

This is probably as much answer as you'll get based on the
difficulty of the solution.

If you are using WinNT there is a possibility to use file handles and
NT like file access functions. Under 95 API is useless (at least it seems).

Under Win31 I know only one way :

Call Real Mode Interrupt (13h) using DPMI functions (int 31h)

I would like to study more about this anyway ...
