Most certainly, the software that came with your scanner will allow you to save your image files in different file formats. You want to choose a format that can be read on any platform and is easily transferable, such as JPG or JPEG.

Save your scanned picture as JPG with a universally usable filename, such as pict1.jpg and send it as an email attachment to your friends, using e-mailing software such as Eudora, Netscape or Claris Emailer. These email suites will do any necessary encoding for you that has to be done in order to successfully transmit data files over the internet.

In Netscape Mail, click the Attach button to attach a file, in Eudora hit command-h to add an attachment.

Good luck & tell me if you need further assistance
