I use Netscape 3.01 (Mac) and Eudora Lite.  Is there a way to filter EMail to get rid of unwanted messages.  Is there a way to respond to the mass mailing advertisemants (I would like to send each a picture of my dog!)

There is no real way you can get rid of junk mail before it gets to your system unless you know where it is coming from or who is going to send it to you, and that is very unlikely. If someone repeatedly sends an email to you then you can filter it out using Eudora, but sadly that isn't usually the case. Even worse, if it is real junk mail, then return addresses rarely work (which is very annoying when you want to give them a blast! You can report them to newsgroups such as comp.sys.net.abuse, but that is a tedious and lengthy process.

Frankly, the quickest and least frustrating way to deal with those nuisances is to simply delete it when it arrives. It takes 5 seconds per piece of junk, and that's the most efficient way of doing it. It's just not worth the hassle to follow it up - though I'd dearly love to choke their mailbox with some of MY junk too!!

All the best,

Rifty.
