How do I disable PnP. I thought it was wonderful at first. Now I find it a nuisance, always popping up with the wrong driver.

Depending on your mainboard and bios -- you have options in the comos set up usually under advanced, chipset, and pnp options to disable this feature.  You may also be running a PNP manager such as intel's -- if so rem out the remarks in the autoexec.bat and config.sys files.
