Windows Messaging NOT working

Hello,

Windows messaging is not working.  I am using win95 B OSR 2.  Every time I try to use messaging the title box starts to load, then disappears.  Then in 'mail' in control panel, i get this error message:

"YOu need more memory or system resources.  Close some windows and try again."

I have closed all windows.  System resouces says there is 96% free.  I have 16 megs RAM.   I've tried all sorts of different conbinations to get this to work. I installed it with fax (BTW microsoft fax fails to work as well, it gives me some error like mapi32.dll error when i go to compose new fax)) and without, with and without microsoft mail.  All which inevitably give me the same hassle.  I've noticed that after installation eveyting works fine.  But when I restart the computer this is when all the error messages pop up.  I was thinking I might have to fiddle with the registry.  If you can, tell me which entries to delete.  It is important that I get this to work, cause I am using Microsoft Phone.  Now, this is the message that comes up when I start phone:

"Phone cannot use your profile.  Make sure that your profile is setup correctly

Unknown win32 error cod: 800a1009"

It woudl help if I could at least get into messaging...

Remember that after I install THEN restart is when all the problems happen.  RIGHT AFTER installation without restarting, every works fine.

Thanks,
Jayson

make sure you have your modem correctly installed, even add a standard "extra" modem. Also check the com ports.

Goto dial-up folder and make your location, select a profile and set up a "account" to dial to - then see if the dial\modem works.

win messaging is very much dependant on this setup,so if you then can get into messaging, goto options under tools, and set up your profile as well as all the e-mail \ fax settings.

let me know if you can get this far,or into messaging at all.

That did not help at all.  This is not a problem with my modem.  But just FYI, it is set up correctly, as is everything you told me to do.  But now, (i don't know how) messaging seems to be working.  BUT, Eudora Pro 3.01 got sacraficed.  Now I get this error message when I run Eudora Pro:

"Could not install Eudora MAPI system because MAPI.DLL and/or MAPI32.DLL could not be renamed."

This started happned ONLY after messaging started working. (how i don't know, but i installed it without internet mail and set up profile maually--did do that before, but now it had an effect)

I suggest you reinstall your osr2. Sometimes it happens.
You don't need delete or format your hardisk.
But the most important part is you must know your before password like 26495-oem-0004782-????? . After you reinstall osr2. The programs that you installed is last. Try it!
If you don't know your before password , don't try it.

Which is your version of mapi32.dll ?

Are you sure for your dll version ? (they must be for Windows 95,
 not for NT...)

OK...but how do i install osr2 without reformatting?  And will any of my programs of directories bew deleted (i have one directory with all my downloads, i don't want it deleted)  What is this password you talk about?  Is this is cd key?  I don't have one, just the osr2 cd. (BTW i am using a friend's OSR2 cd, as mine has not arrvied yet because my dealer is slooooooow, but it shouldn't make a difference, right?  (I used a different win95 cd(first release before i had osr2.)  before to install things and it worked fine.)  If not, where do i find this password, and what do i need it for?

MAPI32.DLL (c:\windows\system) file version is 4.00.834.839.  Description says "Extended MAPI 1.0 for Windows 95"  Should I reinstall Eudora Pro 3.01 for win95?

FIRST:
OK, the password is your cd key. You don't need take yours   friends win95 osr2 CD back. Everyone's win 95 osr2 CD is ok  too.
SECOND:
If you want know your first install cd key,you only need to go  to the START-> SETUP->CONTROL PANEL->SYSTEM ,then in the NORMAL
you can find the eighth line is your CD key like ?????? or
 ?????-oem-???????-17338 .
 Write it down ."important"
THIRD:
Restart the win95 and at the line START WIN95 , press F8.
You can see the STARTUP MENU.
 Take anyone's WIN95 OSR2 cd in your CD-ROM.
Select the COMMAND PROMPT ONLY."You must can use your CDROM".
Then you can see the c:>. The under is dos command.
c:>d: (this is cd drive or yours is e:)
 d:>cd\win95
d:>setup /is (this can escape the scandisk)
the you can do follow the win95's prompt.
  You must select next->next->next.
  Select everything you want install.
AT the "CD KEY" KEY-IN THAT you write down before.
At last you will wait 20-30 minutes to copy files.
After the win95 restart ,you will find everything is back
  and work correct.
